Happy Mother's Day!

 Me and my little boy!

So I am getting a little bit better....I am only a day behind now!  :o)  I hope that everyone enjoyed their Mother's day!  I know that I did!  I felt very spoiled!  Matt gave me money to go get a Mani/Pedi, so Deanna and I went on Saturday and enjoyed some girl time.  I enjoyed a glass of wine and treated myself to the deluxe Pedicure.  Oh it felt so good!  :o)  Yesterday Matt made me Chocolate French Toast, Maple Bacon, and Mimosa's for breakfast!  It was very yummy!  At lunch time we headed to Amanda and Kevin's (Step-sister in-law and husband) for brunch.  They had crepes, blueberry pancakes, egg bake (sinful), and fruit.  Of course I had a few more mimosa's there too!  Poor little Kellen decided not to nap at 10 so he was a mess!  Then we came home and we thought Kellen would nap for a good bit, but no...1 hour later he was up and ready to go!  I got a small nap in and then My mom came over for dinner and Matt and I made steak fajita's! I feel like I ate ALL day!  It was so much fun!  :o)   I just can't even imagine what it was like before I was a mommy!  It is just the best!!!

15 Months

Where is my baby?  Welcome my little toddler!  Kellen is growing up so fast and right before my eyes and most days I still expect to wake up and see a little baby that was just born!  So what is Kellen up to these days....

Sleeping ~ Kellen is going to bed between 7 and 8 pm most nights and will sleep till about 7 am the next morning!  He is still taking two naps and will go down around 10 am and sleep till 11:30 to 12ish.  Then he will go down again around 3 and will sleep for another 1 1/2 to 2 hours.  I would love to get it to one nap a day, but for right now I won't complain for the quiet time that I have!  :o)

Eating ~  Kellen will pretty much eat anything that you put in front of him. He just seems to have moods, which he probably gets from me!  :o)  He loves all fruit and most veggies.  I wish that I was better about the veggies, but the can eat a whole can of green beans if I let him!  :o)  He loves peas and carrots and even lima beans.  He really likes tomatoes, I am wishing I had a garden and could grow some this summer!  :o)  I am working on him a water.  He does not like just plain water so I have been adding a little juice to it to get him to drink it, but I really want to be able to have him drink just water!  He loves anything that you are eating and wants to try it!  :o)

Wearing ~ He is still wearing a size 4 diaper and size 4 shoe.  He is wearing 18 months, but some 24 months shirts since his torso is so tall!  I got him some crocs and they are so cute on him!  I love summer time there are so many cute outfits for him.  Of course most of his shorts and shirts have some kind of plaid on them!  :o)

Playing ~ Kellen is very independent these days.  He loves to be outside.  He is not really saying many words other than "mama" and "dada", but he can get us to do what he wants. He will come over and grab our hand and lead us to where he wants us to go!  I know that everyone says once he starts talking he will never stop, but I just can't wait!  This month he has learned how to get on to the couch all by himself and has perfected getting down.  He has started loving to spin until he is dizzy (this makes me so nervous)!  He can go up and now come down the stairs.  One day he surprised me by getting on to our bed, for those of you that don't know...we have a really high bed, but we have a bench at the end.  He climbed onto the bench and then onto the bed and then I helped him down and he did it again and again!  It was like a jungle gym to him!   He loves phones, he will put them up to his ear and babble into it (hmmm wonder where he learned that from).  Yesterday he was so cute because I ask him where his nose was and he pointed to it and of course I got excited and he starte clapping it was so cute, so he will find his nose and then start clapping!  It is so cute!  This morning I was checking my email and he was watching Curious George and I looked over and he was laying on the ground so I went and laid next to him and he looked up and me and gave me a kiss.  My heart melted.  These are the moments that I just don't want to forget!  I know that I will wake up tomorrow and he will be 15.  He loves his daddy.  It is so cute to see him cuddle up to Matt.

15 Month Dr's check up ~ We headed to see Dr Tolkin yesterday.  Kellen is a healthy little boy!  He is tall and thin, just like most people want to be.  He is 22.75 inches and weighing in at 26 lbs 1 oz.  He got two shots yesterday and did so good.  He cried and looked at the nurse with a look like "what did I do to you" it was cute!  As soon as she walked out of the room he was fine!  It is so nice that he is healthy.  Since being home he has been sick once!  It is heaven!  It is so hard to have sick little ones.

Mr Kellen ~

You have given mommy such joy since the day your were born.  Daddy and I still look at each other and say"I can't believe we have a son".  We are in awe of all that you are learning and how much you are growing each day!  You are Mommy's little monkey and you keep me on my toes all day long!  It has been a blessing to be home with you.  Daddy wished that he could stay at home with you too!  :o)  We love you so much!

A week of Daddy!

We were blessed to have Matt home with us for the entire week last week!  Every after tax season his company has a three day vacation break and this year it fell on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday....so we decided it would be fun to have him use two vacation days and take Thursday and Friday too!  It was wonderful!  Kellen enjoyed having his daddy around for the week!  Matt did not really get a chance to sleep in, because if Kellen knew he was in the bedroom Kellen was right there wanting in the bed with Matt to jump on him!  :o)

Matt and I took on a huge project for the week and we put in a stone edging around all the beds in the yard.  We also planted 6 azalea bushes (I think this was harder than the stone edging).  Our beds are full of GA red clay and lots and lots of rocks!  We planted some flowers and got a couple hanging baskets and then Matt spread a ton of new mulch!  He then mowed, edged, and all the fun stuff.  Our yard looks so pretty!  It was so much fun and Kellen enjoyed being outside!  The weather was so perfect!  We finished up everything on Friday just in time for Matt's big birthday bash!  I have to say besides my yard looking beautiful, I got a good start on my tan!

Matt's good friends Charles and Chris hosted a surprise poker tournament for Matt for his birthday.  So it is hard to plan a surprise for Matt, but tax season was in their favor.  We went to dinner with Charles and Deanna and then after dinner Charles ask Matt if he wanted to run by Chris's and pick up some tickets and see Chris's newly remodeled basement.  I tried very hard to not laugh, but he agreed and headed off!  He was totally surprised and enjoyed playing poker!

On Saturday our friends the the Whitfield's came in for the weekend with their two little one's!  Little Miss SS is Kellen's future wife.  :o)  I could not believe how much lil Hamp man had grown.  His cheeks are just too cute!  On this visit Kellen and SS really played pretty well togehter.  It was cute to watch them play in the tunnel!  Saturday night we had a cook out to celebrate Matt's birthday.  We had some family and close friend's over, it was a lot of fun!

On Sunday we headed to The Tucker's for a surprise 30th birthday for Ashly!  It was so much fun!  The weather was perfect and we enjoyed being outside for the afternoon.  There was good food and a jumpy house for the kids.  Kellen would not go in it for nothing.  Anytime we got near it he would scream at the top of his lungs.  We got some really cute pictures of Kellen and Miss SS.  We enjoyed the Whitfield's visit and were sad to see them go!  We had been planning the trip forever and I can't believe that it is over!  :o)

(This will be too cute in there wedding slide show)  :o)

I can't believe that my baby will be 15 months tomorrow.  He is growing too fast!  We are headed to the Dr's tomorrow for his 15 month check up!  So I will update you on his check up tomorrow!  :o)

A very LONG over due catch up post!

So once again time has ran away and I am SO far behind on blogging.  So here is a catch up post with pictures of each event!  :o)  One day I will get organized and have a post for each event!  But it seems like once I download the pictures off the camera and go through them all, I have had enough of the computer!  :o)  So we will see if I can turn over a new leaf!  It is pretty bad when Matt comes home and says "You have not blogged in a LONG time!!!  I hope you enjoy some very cute pictures!!!

March 21st ~ Taylor's 1st Birthday!

We helped Cousin Taylor celebrate turning 1!!!  Taylor and I loved the piano and made some great music in my opinion!  She did not enjoy the cake very much, because it made her hands dirty!

March 26th ~ Grandma Dee's Birthday!

Mommy started to make a very yummy dinner for Grandma Dee's birthday, but about half way through burned herself pretty bad (this is not an uncommon thing, she thinks she is a cook, but she often cuts or burns herself.  This time she just happened to burn herself pretty bad)!  So Grandma Dee had to finish her own dinner while Mommy told her what to do!  But it was still yummy!  Then we had cake and I got to help her blow out the candles.

March 28th ~ Woodland's Easter Egg Hunt & I am 14 Months old!

Our neighborhood puts on an Easter Egg hunt each year and Mommy was so excited to take me, but we ran a few minutes late (8 minutes to be exact), and they were done when we got there!  Mommy was a little upset, but it ended up that I didn't know the difference and I just enjoyed carrying around my basket and hanging with Cousin Ansley.  We went to the playground and the weather was perfect!

Mommy can't believe I am 14 months.  I am turning into a little bit of a ham!  I am still sleeping great at night!  I sleep anywhere from 12-13 hours a night.  I am back to taking two naps a day.  I was just not able to handle life with only 1 nap a day!  I am still a great eater.  I will pretty much eat whatever you put in front of me!  I am busy busy every day going and going and keeping mommy on her toes.  I still am just saying mama and dada, and everyone keeps telling mommy that once I start talking I won't stop!  I love my Daddy!  When Daddy walks in the room my whole face lights up and I am attached to his hip!  I am very independent these days.  I want to do everything all by myself!

March 31st ~ Going to see the Easter Bunny!

So Mommy is not sure what happened since I will let pretty much anyone hold me, but I would not let go of Grandma when it came time to sit with the Easter Bunny.  Daddy says that's okay the Easter Bunny is creepy looking.  So needless to say this is the only picture Mommy got.

April 1st ~ Playing with my present from Grandma Dee

Grandma Dee got me this awesome tent and tunnel!  I have had so much fun going in and out of the tunnel!  Then Holly thought she would try it out.  Skyler and Holly have enjoyed hanging out in the tunnel!  I am excited to play with little miss Sarah Scott when she comes to visit in a couple of weeks!  :o)

April 3rd ~ Easter Egg Hunt at Mimi and Papa's

We got together at Mimi and Papa's for an Easter Egg hunt!  The Big girl's got to dye eggs and Daddy let me dye my hand PINK!  I had so much fun picking up the eggs and putting them in my basket, but I had the most fun just carrying around my basket!  Then we had fun with some bubbles that Uncle Andy got all of us!  Oh yes and that is a picture of me in purple bunny ears...Aunt Amanda put them on me!

April 4th ~ Easter

Easter was a lot of fun!  I was spoiled!  We had another egg hunt....I had fun finding the eggs till I got one open and found it had Teddy Grahams in it!  Mommy made a yummy lunch for everyone.  Mimi and Papa, Great Grandma Ava and Great Grandpa Russ, Uncle Andy and Cousin Ansley, and Grandma Dee all came over.  My Great Grandma Luree always made a bunny cake for my mommy growing up...so Grandma Dee has started the tradition up with me!  She made a very yummy and cute cake!

April 9th ~ Being Silly with Mommy!

I am gaining such a little personality and I love sunglasses and mommy just happen to catch this picture of me!  Daddy and Mommy laughed so hard!  :o)

Weekend with Daddy!

So I had my first night away from Kellen!  I have to say that it was a little strange!  I didn't sleep very well not hearing the white noise from the monitor.  I went to a Mary Kay conference and Kellen got to spend some MUCH needed time with Daddy!  Matt has been working some LONG hours these days and Kellen just loves getting to spend time with his Daddy!  Matt is gone every morning before Kellen wakes up and gets home after he has gone to bed.  He tries to not to do that more than two nights in a row, but as April 15th approaches the hours grow longer and longer.  So we cherish Sundays!  But this last weekend Kellen and Daddy got to hang out Friday night and all day on Saturday while Mommy was away!  Matt was SO excited!  I think Kellen was too....when Daddy walks in the room Kellen hangs on for dear life!  :o) They got to enjoy the sun and do what guys do...They went to Home Depot and to the playground and even did some shopping.

Kellen is so much fun these days.  His laugh makes my smile every time...it is a sound that I hope to never forget!  :o)  I just wish that I knew what he was thinking.  I don't want to wish him to grow up, but I sure wish that I could get a few words here and there!  He knows mama and dada and that is about it.  A lot of grunting and pointing is going on in this household and when Kellen wants you to do something he just puts your hands where he wants them and will pull or push you to get what he wants.

I am enjoying my time at home with him!  :o)  He is changing so much and there is no baby at all left in him!  He is a little boy!  And let me tell you that he is ALL boy!  :o)  He is one special boy!

Kellen's Fish Face!

Not sure as to why he is doing this, but this is how Kellen looks about 80% of the day! I don't know if it is because his teeth are coming in or if he just thinks if feels cool, but most of the day Kellen is walking around making the fish face! I love this picture, because it looks like he puckering up to give his mama a BIG kiss! :o) All I can say is Kellen is a hot mess!!!

Surgery Day!!!

Oh what a day! It went so fast that before I knew it it was over! Thank you again for all of the prayers and well wishes! I know I say this often but we are VERY lucky to be surrounded but such great people! :o) The day was actually very smooth and there must of been LOTS of prayers going out to help me keep calm, because I never got nervous or really freaked out! I got a little nervous when he first left and then felt anxious for him to return, because I thought it was taking too long! :o) But most of the time I felt a peace over me!

So the day started out like most other days. Kellen got up around 7ish and then he helped me make our bed and played while I finished getting ready. Then he had some Apple Juice and Jello for breakfast. I know that this sounds weird, but he couldn't have any solids after midnight! And normally he LOVES Jello, but he didn't want anything to do with it, so I let him have more juice than I normally would. Then Grandma Dee came over and we hung out and tried to give him some more Jello at 9ish since this was the last chance to eat for a while, but he just wasn't into it. So we let him have some more juice and then confiscated all sippies at 9:15. I had got Kellen down to one nap a day, but sometimes life is just too hard so he will take two naps. So at 10 am Grandma Dee but him down for a nap. He slept for about an hour and then we were off!

He was so good, never once did he get fussy since he had not had a lot of food. So we arrived at the out patient surgery center. Daddy was already there and Kellen was super excited to see him! While I checked Kellen in, Daddy and Grandma Dee hung out with Kellen. Kellen did more playing than anything. There was a tunnel and a little house and blocks, and on and on and on. There was also a little table and chair that was just Kellen's size and to Daddy's surprise Kellen just climbed right up and sat on the chair! He had a smile that was so big and it was like he was saying "I did it"!!!

Not to long later a wonderful nurse came out and got us to take us back to pre-op. She checked his weight, he was weighing in at 26 lbs (that was with all of his cloths and shoes on). She took his temperature and his blood pressure. Then after that she showed us to the pre-op room. We got to see Dr. Glasson and the anesthesiologist. This is where we got to meet BJ, she was the sweetest nurse! This is also where Kellen got to play basketball while we were waiting for our turn. BJ asked who wanted to go back with Kellen, while they put him under and at first I was going to go, but the more I thought about it the more I knew I just couldn't do it. So I made Matt (I didn't have to twist his arm to hard). We did not have to wait too long till BJ brought in some medicine for Kellen. Kellen is super easy when it comes to medicine...he will suck it out of the syringe and you don't have to do anything. BJ was like, "My child that is bitter"! Kellen didn't seem to care! We later found out it was Lortab, you would think that it would make Kellen sleepy, but no, he was so happy playing basketball.

Not to much later they came and got Kellen and Daddy. It all happened so fast that I didn't get to give Kellen kisses or tell him "I love you" and that really didn't sit well with me. At this point I got a little case of "what it", but not to long later I felt a sense of peace come over me! Matt came back and he told me that I probably would not have done very well with being in there. Matt had to hold Kellen down while the put the mask over his face and let him go to sleep. I was kind of glad too that I didn't go!

Then we were taken to Kellen's post-op room and waited for Kellen. They said that it was to take about 90 minutes, but right about 60 minutes later Dr. Glasson was out and telling us that Kellen did great! She gave us some instructions and then said see ya in a couple of weeks. Then Jody, our post-op nurse came and told us that Kellen would be coming soon, that he was starting to wake up and doing great! She also told us how cute he was!!! Then the nurse that was with him in during the surgery carried him into the room. She asked if she could keep Kellen, because he was too cute. At this point I took Kellen and got to snuggle with him for a few minutes. It was wonderful since these days Kellen does not sit still enough to snuggle with me. Then he started to wake up and he was not a happy camper. I don't think I would be either if I didn't know what was going on. We just had to hang out until he drank something. He drank two sippies full of Apple Juice and then Jody said we could be on our way. Jody was kind enough to call in our prescription for us so that it would be ready when we got to Publix and would not have to wait for it.

So we were off. We arrived at 12ish and left at 3:30ish...It all went so fast. Kellen slept all the way home. I figured he would be so hungry when we got home, but he just ate a little of a banana and a few bites of cereal, but he did drink some more juice (I promise I don't let him have that much juice on normal days)! Not very long after he puked all over Grandma Dee and the kitchen floor! I felt so bad for him! But it didn't seem to bother him any! He woke up a little more than was ready to go. He was still a little unsteady from all the drugs, but he wanted to walk, so we just let him and followed him around trying to catch him if he fell. He ate some cereal a little bit later and drank some more juice.

Then before we knew it, it was time for bed. Dr Glasson had prescribed us some Tylenol with Codeine in it and we decided to give it to him so that he would not be in any pain. I figured it would be a long night and that Kellen would be up a lot, just being uncomfortable. Boy was I wrong!!! Kellen slept till 8 am the next morning! You really would not know that he ever had surgery. Not once has he slowed down or acted in anyway that he was uncomfortable. I gave him Tylenol through out the day on Thursday just because I wanted to make sure that he was okay. But he was full of giggles and running around like a mad man!!!

Thanks again for all the prayers and well wishes. He had been great! :o)
