Not Yet!

Not many changes at the Dr's today. Kellen has still not dropped and I don't seem to be progressing much. We will be going back next Tuesday and making a decision about whether to keep going and trying for a natural birth or if we would like to proceed with a c-section due to his size. There are so many things to think about at this point...How big is too big to try for a natural birth? How accurate are the weight estimations they are giving me? When do the risks out weigh my want for a natural birth? Those are just a few of the questions that Matt and I have been contemplating. Kellen is still moving up a storm and has a very strong heart rate. They checked the fluid around him and it looks good. My blood pressure was a up a little today, but when they took it at the end of the appointment it was normal. I have to stop by tomorrow to have it checked again. Other than that it is just a waiting game. Matt is so excited and keeps telling me he wants to open the present now...present being Kellen. I am so excited to meet him and see who he looks like and see his personality develop as he grows. Thanks again for all the calls and emails!

No Baby Yet!

Over all the Dr's went well yesterday. They did another measurement and came up with an estimate of 9lbs 7oz. I am actually really curious to see what his weight will be when he comes out. Even the ultrasound Dr said we would have to call and let him know how big he really is, to see how close the estimate is. After that, we talked with the midwife and came up with a game plan. They are going to let me go for the next two weeks and then reassess the situation. Matt and I are crossing our fingers that Kellen decides to come on his own. The Midwife did check me to see if I was dilated, but Kellen has not dropped and is still way up there. On a positive note, my cervix is starting to thin, so maybe, just maybe, with the full moon and change in barometric pressure Kellen will decide to come! :)

Last Thursday, the girls at work gave me a shower. It was so much fun. They even invited my mom! It was really nice. They really spoiled me and, let me tell you, Kellen will be one cute dressed little boy! Of course they had my FAVORITE cupcakes!!! Strawberry cupcakes with strawberry mousse icing....yummy! I really am lucky to work with such a great group of women!

The Girls at Work

Last Friday, Matt's work gave us a shower. They insisted that I join them and try as I may, Matt would not let me miss it. Even though I really dreaded going (due to my shyness), I really had a lot of fun. They played a few games...Matt and Alston (a male coworker) had to drink juice from a bottle and see which one could finish first. Alston won! Two other male coworkers had to race to see who could dress the baby the fastest. It really was a lot of fun to watch. They gave us The Floppy and a cute outfit and then the partners gave us a generous gift certificate. We are very spoiled in the fact that we both work for such wonderful companies filled with wonderful people!

I know that everyone is anxiously waiting for Kellen's arrival. I wanted to let everyone know that we appreciate all the phone calls and emails that we have received, just to check on us! As soon as I get some pictures from the two showers I will post them! :)

And the wait continues...

Well I still don't know much more than I did last week. My ultrasound went well yesterday. They said everything looks good. I do have to say that it was the neatest ultrasound to date in my opinion. He was really moving so I got to see his ear and his little hand opening and closing like he was waving to me saying, "Hi Mommy!" It made it difficult to get any really good pictures this week so I decided not to post any. Matt was not able to make it, but I was a little sad that he missed this one, because Kellen was so active. They said next week they will do another weight estimate, so my midwife has decided to wait till next week to come up with a game plan. Matt talked with Corrinna (our Doula) and she was very reassuring that we still have a choice in the matter and can have the birth that we want. That helped me so much as I was a little down about the way things were headed. She told Matt that she just attended a home birth and the baby was 11 lbs and the mother went naturally. She gave Matt some ideas to possibly kick start my labor so that Kellen might come on his own. We have decided to wait till Tuesday and see what happens and then if they are leaning towards inducing, we will ask for some time for Kellen to decide to come on his own. I might just have to give the famous Scallini's Eggplant Parmesan a try and see if that will make me go into labor! :) Everyone has been so great giving me little things to try to help my labor start! In reality I know Kellen will come when he is ready. I am just hoping that he decides to come early. :)
